NOPD searching for vehicle, driver involved in fatal Bourbon Street hit-and-run

The New Orleans Police Department is asking for help locating a vehicle and its driver in the ongoing investigation of a hit-and-run traffic fatality that occurred on Jan. 9 in the 100 block of Bourbon Street.

Upon arrival to the scene, officers said they observed New Orleans EMS tending to a pedestrian.

The unidentified man was then transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

During their investigation, detectives say they determined that the pictured vehicle – believed to be a dark-colored and tan two-tone SUV, possibly a Ford Expedition – was traveling against the flow of traffic in the 100 block of Bourbon Street and struck the pedestrian victim from behind, dragging him for a short distance.

Police said the vehicle then turned onto Canal Street and fled the scene.

Anyone with additional information on this incident, the pictured vehicle – which would have front-end damage from this incident – and/or the vehicle’s driver at the time of this incident is asked to contact NOPD traffic fatality investigator Mike Baldassaro at 504-658-6290 or call anonymously to Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans at 504-822-1111 or toll-free 1-877-903-STOP.
